Hobe Sound Golf Club was founded in 1985 as a private club with a small residential side, and its Joe Lee course opened for play in 1988. Since 2002 the members and residents have run both the club and the homeowners association.
The county roll records 93 homesites in two plats, Hobe Sound Golf Club (PB 11, page 21) and Hobe Sound Golf Club II, all but one with a house. Streets carry Long Island names: SE Plandome Drive, SE Hempstead Circle, SE Manhasset Place and SE Freeport Court.
