Overview
About Atlantis
Atlantis is its own city, not a neighborhood of Lake Worth Beach. Developers Nathan Hunt and Paul Kintz bought a cattle ranch called Mulberry Farms in 1958, platted it around a golf course, and the city was incorporated on June 19, 1959. Homes carry Lake Worth mailing addresses and the 33462 ZIP.
The 2020 census counted 1,226 housing units and 2,142 residents in about 1.4 square miles. The county roll lists about 970 houses and 240 condominium units; most went up from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s, with a later round of villas around 2000. Many streets are named for golf courses: Muirfield, Gleneagles, Turnberry and Walton Heath.
Homes range from condominiums and villa groups such as Atlantis Sherbrooke Villas, French Royale Villas and Forestview Villas to single-family houses along North and South Country Club Drive. JFK Medical Center, on Atlantis Boulevard at the city’s eastern side, is the city’s largest employer.
The golf club that opened with the city is now Lost City Golf Club, a private 27-hole club; its own site says members need not live in Atlantis. The city is bounded by the Lake Worth Drainage District L-14 canal to the north, Lantana Road to the south, Military Trail to the west and Congress Avenue to the east.

What Else to Check
- City government Atlantis is its own municipality, so city taxes and city rules apply; we confirm the millage and any city requirements for a specific home.
- Golf club Membership at Lost City Golf Club is optional and priced by the club.
- Villa and condominium associations Many homes sit in villa or condominium associations; we confirm the association and its rules for a specific home.
- Taxes and insurance After a sale the assessed value resets the following January. Flood zone and roof age drive insurance quotes, so we check both for the address.
- Estoppel The closing agent orders an estoppel certificate from each association, which confirms what is owed at closing.
Documents to Review Before Closing
- Before you sign: the association disclosure summary and the parcel’s tax bill, including any non-ad valorem lines
- Before you sign: leasing and approval rules if you may rent, and architectural rules for exterior changes
- Before closing: estoppel certificates from every association that applies
