Delray Beach Neighborhood Guides
Smaller Neighborhoods of Delray Beach
Some of Delray Beach’s neighborhoods are a single street or two of a handful of houses. They rarely come up for sale, and when one does, buyers want the same few facts: where it is, how old the houses are, whether there is a gate or an association, and how close the water is. Here they are, one section each.

A historic district on the barrier island in Delray Beach, Florida
Nassau Park Historic District
Nassau Park is two blocks of Nassau Street on the barrier island, south of East Atlantic Avenue. Developer R.C. MacNeil renamed the street from Jo-Jo Avenue and hired architect Sam Ogren Sr., who designed the first house in 1935.
Most of the street was built from 1935 to 1941 in the Colonial and Cape Cod Revival styles, with Minimal Traditional cottages among them. The state marker notes front doors with fanlights and carved wood trim on the original houses, and the natural rise of the land along the street.
The district runs from Venetian Drive on the west to South Ocean Boulevard on the east. The city’s district map takes in 27 parcels, nearly all on Nassau Street, and 19 of the houses on the county roll date from before 1946. It is the only city historic district east of the Intracoastal.
It is inside the City of Delray Beach, a block from the beach. Exterior changes, additions and demolition go through the city’s historic preservation review; we confirm what applies to a specific house.
